Troops March with Postville Jews

Soldiers from U.S. Army Reserve Center in Decorah marched alongside Jews in Postville on foot and in vehicle for Lag BaOmer.

Soldiers from the 322nd Engineer Company, 368th Engineer Battalion, at the United States Army Reserve Center in Decorah, joined Jews in Iowa to celebrate a festive day.

The troops walked on foot and drove alongside members of the Jewish community in Postville on Sunday in celebration of Lag BaOmer.

The day marked the yartzeit of the sage Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochei and the survival of Torah study despite the passing of 24,000 early students.

A grand parade walked through the streets of Postville, with children reciting prayings and singing songs. The parade was accompanied by floats made by the yeshiva, by the cheder boys, and by the girls school.

At the conclusion of the march, participants joined in a children's rally and barbecue.

Participants thanked the organizers Levi Malinas, Shneur Bass and Meir Simcha Rubashkin.

great parade
the Postville parade was beautiful and a real kiddush Hashem! the students all wore their ranks in Tzivos Hashem with great pride, and the floats the students made were spectacular. Having the army there was an added extra touch. One of our first star generals explained to the soldiers what kind of army we are in, and impressed the American soldiers. The entire day was a Kiddush Hashem. Thanx to all the organizers!
